Why Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid for military, veterans, and their families is an evidence-based & early intervention training program developed for adults to learn how to assist and support members of their community who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.
What does this class cover?
• Risk Factors\Protective Factors
• Applying the action plan; A.L.G.E.E.
• Assess for risk of suicide or harm
• Listen nonjudgmentally
• Give reassurance and information
• Encourage appropriate professional help
• Encourage self-help and other support strategies
